Information
The Hampton Roads Jr. Whalers are proud to announce our tryout camp for the
2018-2019 Jr. Whalers USPHL Elite & Premier Jr. Hockey teams will be held May 4th-6th, 2018 to be held at the Chilled Ponds Ice Sports Complex in Chesapeake, VA.
All prospective players are invited to attend the camp. The Whalers will be looking to build off a very successful
2017-2018 season as both the Elite and Premier teams took home the USPHL National Championship. The organization continues to be a dominate powerhouse in the junior hockey.
The
2017-18 season was another strong season for the Whalers Elite team, as the Whalers made their 2nd final in the last 3 seasons, riding a strong season back into the title game, defeating the Charlotte Rush to claim the
2017-2018 USPHL Elite National Championship. The Whalers finished with an overall record of 39-9-4, which including a 32-8-4 regular season mark, and a 7-1 mark in the playoffs highlighted by a round 1 victory over the Richmond Generals and a perfect 5-0 record en route to the Championship. The Whalers went a perfect 16-0 this season against out of division opponents from the North, Mid-Atlantic, and Florida divisions.
The Whalers had winning streaks of 6 Games (Oct. 12-22), 7 games (Oct. 29-Nov. 13), 6 games (Nov. 9-17), 5 games (Feb. 3-17), and 6 games (Feb. 25-Mar. 10).
The
2017-18 season was a season of redemption for the Whalers Premier team, after winning the USPHL Championship in 2015-2016, the Whalers fell in game 3 of the Championship series last year to the Charlotte Rush, and would look for pay back. The Whalers finished with an overall record of 37-13-1, which included a
30-13-1 regular season mark, and a perfect 7-0 run in the playoffs, capped off with a 3-2 victory in the Championship game against the Charlotte Rush to become USPHL Premier National Champions for the 2nd time in the last 3 season. Since the inception of the USPHL in 2012, the Whalers have made the league finals in Boston every season.
The Whalers had winning streaks of 4 games (Sept. 16-24), 8 games (Oct 1-28), 3 games (Dec. 9-15), 4 games (Dec. 16-Jan. 7), 5 Games (Jan. 28-Feb. 11), and 8 games to end the season (Feb. 18-Mar. 10).
