Wydrowski Commits to Trine

The Hampton Roads Jr. Whalers are proud to announce that 1998 defenseman Trent Wydrowski from Bellevue, WA has committed to playing college hockey in 2018 for Trine University.

Wydrowski posted 5 goals and 18 assists this season, good for 23 points in 50 games, helping lead the Whalers Premier team to the 2017-18 USPHL Premier National Championship. In his 2 junior seasons in Hampton Roads, Wydrowski has competed in 105 career games, tallying 37 points on 6 goals and 31 assists.

“Trent was a part of the Whalers for 2 seasons”, stated head coach Rod Taylor. “He has great hockey skills with a hard slap shot. He was eager to improve his skills and worked hard to get better. He was a solid part of our defensive Corp that helped us achieve the championship this past season. Congratulations to Trent on his commitment to Trine University. He will be a great asset to the hockey club”.

“Trent’s success is attributed to his persistence to improve his game on a daily basis”, stated Whalers GM Patrick Cavanagh. “He embodies what it means to be a Whaler. He will be successful as a part of the Trine Thunder under Coach Alex Todd and I look forward to watching him continue to flourish”.

“I would like to thank the coaching staff, ownership, and my teammates here at the Hampton Roads Whalers", stated Wydrowski. "They gave me the opportunity to improve myself on and off the ice. This program gave me the shot to win a championship which I am forever grateful for.”

Trine is located in Angola, IL and competes in the NCAA’s National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHA).

Wydrowski becomes the Whalers 13th commit of the 2017-18 season joining Sean Dickson (Utica), Brandon Osmundson (Utica), John Moncovich (Uitca), Jaxon Rutkowski (Utica), Riley Wagner (Concordia), Zach Zalar (West Point), Viacheslav Goev (Watertown FHL), Everett Yasinski (Iowa State), Ryan Lorenz (FGCU), Caelan Bolanowski (FGCU), Gary Eastlack (Kentucky), John Horn (Lawrence Tech).
